FACT: The concept of the “free world” emerged during the Cold War, embodied by international alliances like NATO which stood up against the Soviet Union

“Wise leaders always put the good of their own people and their own country first,” @realDonaldTrump says, while speaking to the #UNGA, which is meant to bring nations together to solve the worlds problems.

Now @realDonaldTrump is bragging about tax/regulations cuts and “jobs being produced at a historic rate.”

His administration hasn’t matched Obama’s best job creation numbers.

Hes also bragging about the US being the top oil/gas producer in the world. This happened under @BarackObama.

Next lie is that our strategic partners “aren’t paying their fair share.”

Our alliances are not a country club. There are no dues. The US does not have mercenaries.

“We are working closely with @BorisJohnson on a magnificent new trade deal,” @realDonaldTrump says.

FACT: The UK can’t negotiate on its own until it leave the EU.

Trump now attacking China and blaming China for US loss in manufacturing.

“Globalism exerted a religious pull” over leaders, @realDonaldTrump says.

Now he’s bragging about tariffs causing supply chains returning to the US (no evidence of this so far) and the “billions of dollars” being paid to the US treasury (from AMERICAN taxpayers).

“We deserve peace, cooperation and mutual gain with all,” @realDonaldTrump says, despite the fact that he routinely decries trade agreements that aren’t disproportionately beneficial to the US.

Now @realDonaldTrump is lying about how the Iran nuclear deal didn’t allow inspections of important sites. It did.

He correctly notes that it didn’t cover missiles, that’s because it was the Iran NUCLEAR deal.

.@realDonaldTrump now decrying anti-semitism in context of Iran/Israel, neglecting to mention his embrace of far-right anti-Semitic leaders like Orban, etc.

Trump now turning to North Korea, which he says “must denuclearize.”

North Korea has taken zero steps towards denuclearization despite @realDonaldTrump having two photo op summits and a DMZ meeting with Kim Jong Un.

Trump now speaking about “mass illegal migration” being “unfair, unsustainable...for everyone involved.”

He’s repeating his lie that countries “send” migrants, along with “radical activists and NGOs that promote human smuggling” by “encouraging human smuggling.”

He’s attacking “open border activists who cloak themselves in...social justice” as “cruel and evil.”

“Each of you has an absolute right to protect your borders,” he says, calling for “an end to human trafficking and human smuggling.”

This section of his speech is a love letter to far-right authoritarians.

Now @realDonaldTrump talking about the “spectre of socialism,” which he says is “about one thing only, power for the ruling class.”

“America will never be a socialist country,” he says, as his administration pays farmers to make up for his trade policy’s failures.

“Freedom and democracy must be constantly guarded and protected from abroad and within,” he says, turning to attack Facebook/Twitter/Google/etc.

“Media and academic institutions” attack “our traditions and values,” he says.

This is the most authoritarian speech from a US leader, ever.
