sometimes i check back in on people i used to know that are fellow third eye weirdos, esoterica obsessed, “spiritual seekers” as lame as it sounds. kind of rare so i remember them. just checked up on this one guy + he rolls with this ayahuasca cult now + thats all he talks about
this one got me down in a unique way. dude used to be kind of like me, rabidly consuming lots of different topics and seeking to integrate them, never mentally or spiritually satiated, and now its just like “yeah i drink this jungle brew... thats it”. stationary
i can see in his eyes and the way he talks his “receptors” are all blown out. super happy but has nothing to say. cups full. no room for anything else i guess. maybe it bothers me because i feel like im not doing enough to lay out alternate paths for people. big sigh

yeah, the thing about realistic still lives is its about how the painter is conveying visual information to the viewer. when its done well most people just get the perception of “oh, well, you just painted it exactly how it looks in real life” but thats actually just an illusion.
its like if a storyteller told a really epic amazing story about something that happened and u said, “well, you didnt really do anything, you just told us what happened”. the art comes in creating that illusion and making it seem like it was obvious how the story should be told.
likewise with painting. you can get so good at pushing colored dirt around that people say “well all you did was perfectly arrange this colored dirt and now when i look at the colored dirt i feel like im looking at fruit on a table” and theyre not impressed. lol.

local walmart already has full christmas section. the aura this emits and the subtle effect this has on the local populace, forcing them to contemplate the distant nativity celebration, has been very helpful. thank you @walmart
