Corbyn takes on Big Pharma: “compulsory licensing to secure generic versions of patented medicines”... “drugs companies that if they want public research funding then they’ll have to make their drugs available for all” and “public owned generic manufacturer”
Such a policy of expanded compulsory licensing would be rather tricky with a US-UK FTA (which Labour are opposed to anyway) - in other US FTAs constraints on such licenses and on research data
Pharma lobby @ABPI_UK says the Labour compulsory licensing policy amounts to “seizure” of its new research and would “completely undermine the system for developing new medicines” send a “hugely negative signal” to UK scientists/ research. 
CBI chief @cbicarolyn said after Corbyn speech Lab Conf “volley of attacks” on firms was “desperately disappointing”

Opposition advisers say that this compulsory license policy will work as a member of the EU, but acknowledge it would be unacceptable for any US-UK trade deal (with they aren’t interested in anyway)
