1. I am hearing more often about parents of kids with #epilepsy refusing to give their kids admittedly rough medication treatments on the basis of what they find on the Internet.

Epilepsy kills. And if you do this nonsense and your child does, you belong in prison.....
2...I know there are plenty of adults who craft “self treatment” nonsense after attendibg Google University Medical School, but if their stupidity kills them, at least it is their choice. Children depend on parents acting reasonably, and deciding that you - with no training -...
3...are smarter than people who trained for 12 years & rely on decades of research is foolhardiness. Things you “hear” or “read” are not treatments - they are things to discuss with your MD. Your ignorance can kill your kid. So love your kid more than you love your philosophies.

1. Everytime a GOPr proclaims there is a Biden scandal, they are advancing - knowingly or unknowingly - these points:

A. The Ukranian Prosecutor General forced out for blocking anti-corruption measures was, in fact, the hero and the anti-corruption politicians are corrupt....
2...

B. The International Monetary Fund and the European Union, which were both pushing for the corrupt Prosecutor General to be forced out by withholding money, are in fact corrupt.
C. The protections by the corrupt prosecutor of anti-corruption politicians were valid...
3...

D. The corrupt politicians whose prosecutions were blocked by the corrupt Prosecutor General were, in fact, innocent.
E. The blocking by the Prosecutor General of a complex visa program that was intended to deal with corruption was legitimate.....

1.Just received a powerful text from 8th grade history teacher who ask me to pass on a request that all history teachers call their Senators tand explain their e inability they now have to teach their kids the words of America's founders in light of current events with Trump...
2...in particular, when they discuss Federalist papers, as kids read words of Adams & Jefferson, as well as Washington farewell address, all of which warn of and condemn possible foreign interference in our democracy, "Then they see trump on the lawn asking for foreign help"...
3...she wrote, "What I should tell them?" She doesnt know how to answer the question, and it no doubt presents itself. She called her Senator's office and asked what how is she supposed to reconcile the words of the Founders with the words of Trump in her lessons to 8th graders..

Many people seem unaware of the impact of depression on cognitive function (i.e. thinking abilities).

I discovered this when a few small replies I made recently on someone’s thread garnered a total of a few thousand likes (and still counting).

Impairment of cognition — meaning, impaired ability to think, remember, solve problems, etc. — is quite common in depression, and is a very common cause of cognitive complaints in medical practice overall.

There are two major reasons depression causes cognitive problems. /2
The first is that it makes you slower.

When you’re depressed, everything looks grey, and there’s no hope, so it’s awfully hard to motivate yourself to do things.

That includes thinking about things & solving problems. You might do it eventually, but it’ll take you longer. /3

This is just one of the marine diesel generators that live in the lowest basement. The site has its own dual redundant HV feed, and operate their own HV/LV transformer kit. They take ~600 litres of oil, and are regularly tested.
To power those, they need a load of fuel. There’s a tank like this for each generator, and they hold enough red diesel for 8 hours. An additional huge set of tanks sit behind which receive fuel deliveries from a tanker connection outside the building.

It builds on the work that Viktor has been developing over the past decade on Structured Flows on Manifolds that provides a general framework to link brain flows and behaviour flows.

The basic idea is that for complex systems like the brain you can express it's dynamics in terms of relatively low-dimensional manifolds that constrain the temporal evolution of network flows.

To cut carbon emissions quickly, the most effective approach is to:
(A) Encourage people whose jobs can be done remotely to work remotely (Drive/fly less)
(B) Reduce meat + dairy consumption (Tax these more)
(C) Delink GDP - consumption (Now that would be truly “radical”) @AOC
2. We need a new economic model paired to a wholesale change in consumption behaviors while transitioning to a “greener economy”. Sticking to the same consumption patterns in a “greener economy” is pointless. Tax model will need to be overhauled, for this new model, of course.
3. Other ways to reduce carbon emissions dramatically without imposing new taxes:
Peace deals between US-Russia, Saudi-Iran, Israel-Palestine: could dramatically shrink the size of federal gov (DoD, State Dept) and militaries everywhere, which are the biggest polluters.

1) I'm a big fan of @markthompson1 and his beligerent poking of government to be and do better in the #internet age. His thinking on #platform government #paas #gaap is right on the money. However, some things to consider as part of the debate...hopefully helpful...
2) I'm not sure comparisons between government and the big #tech #innovators of the past 10 years do the #legogovernment argument justice. There are too many differences for the comparison to be helpful. Think lack of democratic accountablity for starters (more now than ever!)...
