@AOC responding with calm, care and concern to an obviously distressed individual gets a moniker of "Wack Job"? ... his response only makes sense when you realise that Trump "rules by outrage" and uses this as a primary mechanism to control the media cycle ->
... it was the same during the election. By constantly feed dripping new outrage before anyone can respond to the last, you place opponents in a state of constant outrage which saps energy & makes them look undesirable to voters. The same game is being played currently in the UK.
To respond, you need to first not get outraged by the comment. You have to ask and repeat simple questions i.e. You promised to make America great again - When? Is this it? Have you delivered or is this the old dodgy vendor line of "the check is in the mail"?
If you are feeling exhausted, almost helpless and hopeless, that it is just one really annoying thing after another, screaming mentally "how can this person be president" ... you are in a constant state of outrage which is precisely where this technique is meant to place you ...
... it is designed to sap you, to make you feel unstable and for both you and your views to seem unstable to others. It is rule by outrage, it's far more subtle than rule by fear.
