I asked President Trump if he had ever asked any foreign leaders for corruption investigations of anyone who was NOT a political opponent of his. He said we’ll have to check that. 
“You know, we would have to look,” the President told me. He said he’s concerned with anything to do with corruption.
NBC’s @PeterAlexander followed up on this with the WH press office today, requesting examples. They offered him this statement: “World leaders need to be able to speak freely in their conversations with the President--that is a key component to effective diplomacy...”
More from the WH statement: “And that is why such conversations are kept confidential. We are not going to start discussing the contents of every conversation President Trump has with world leaders, other than to say his conversations are always appropriate.”
The White House did not provide examples of any times President Trump has asked foreign leaders for corruption investigations that were not about his political opponents.
