Most importantly if you don't understand the sensitivity of Ireland accepting a UK request to put a land border on the island you probably shouldn't be commenting on the subject. Practically the whole of the republic feels about standing up to Brexit as Brexiteers do about the EU
Yes the EU rejecting the Johnson deal increases the chances of no-deal. And the EU has made it clear that is preferable to breaking their red lines. As have the UK - the Johnson deal does not cross UK red lines or EU ones. Again, then, why should it be the EU compromising?
UK and EU red lines currently don't allow a deal. You don't get to a deal in this situation by demanding the other side backs down. You only get to it through a creative and usually long negotiating process. The UK Proposal ignores that reality, and is therefore unacceptable.
Number 10's publicity campaign for the offer has been quite good in Great Britain, misinformation is quite easy to spread about international negotiations as they're not well understood by the public. But bouncing the EU really with a poor offer isn't going to work. /end
