@glennkirschner2 2. The hearings and a legally sound report on the facts are independent from removal from office. Everything involving an impeachment is more political than legal, although it is now "a"-legal.

@glennkirschner2 5. Eventually, this leads to a transition (still not sufficiently understood by scholars) to a non-democratic government without a Coup.
@glennkirschner2 6. In my understanding, if the impeachment process in the House is concluded before the election and Trump is impeached, it may be the great global political disaster.
@glennkirschner2 7. If this happens and the Senate exonerates him, the USA will no longer be a democracy not because of a Constitutional crisis, but because the relationship between the powers will have been damaged beyond repair.

@glennkirschner2 9. The official WH speech "Observe: the president is innocent and has been exonerated" finally will have a very audible sub-text: "the dominant segment may ignore the law, violate rights and destroy whatever it wants without consequences".
