EDITORIAL: "My Little Pony: This Thread is Ruined"
MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC is about to end its run after a nice run of nine years. In fact, since its anniversary is today, a guy by the name of @EmergencePony decided that this would be the perfect time to pay tribute to the series. That sounds reasonable enough.
He opens the thread by saying, "Nine years ago, the world witnessed the first episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Today is a good day to say THANK YOU." So he says thank you to the series' creative personnel, its voice actresses and actors, its writers . . .
. . . its composers, and its gallery of artists, character designers, storyboard artists, and animators. And he does so for six Tweets straight. Then things take a turn for the worse, as you will read.
The seventh and last tweet in the entire thread is one that will haunt the writer for years on end, from the tail-end of this decade's version of the toyline to every succeeding version of the toyline. I'll have you read it for yourself:
This is the single most unprofessional, most lousy, most cynical, most pretentious, and most unnecessary thing to come out of the Brony community since its inception. Its placement in a thread designed to THANK as oppose to CONDEMN its staff makes it even worse than it is.
Putting that tweet in the thread is like getting a @ChickFilA representative to attend an LGBTQ Pride Parade. The writer ought to apologize to Josh Haber, Nicole Dubuc, Michael Vogel, and Jim Miller for the vindictive attitude that he appears to have shown toward them.
