Excellent someone talking sense. Why anyone believes that this Gordian knot can be untied is a mystery to me. Leaving aside the DUP, anything acceptable to the ERG will not acceptable to Labour and vice versa. However....
... there is a obvious @BorisJohnson / Dominic Cummings game plan in all this.
1. It’s too late for a deal
2. A hint of a deal is a reason for an extension
3. An extension preserves govt.
4. Remainers can be blamed when it falls over
5. And Boris gets to choose timing of GE /2
Of course none of this would be possible if @uklabour were not still paralysed by the indecisiveness of their increasingly isolated leader. /3
Cummings (like anyone who can count) knows full well that if an election is held before a referendum, while @libdems and @uklabour are locked in mortal combat, #brexit wins a mandate and a no-deal Brexit becomes possible. /4
While this is also obvious to all but the most cretinous and tribal of @uklabour supporters and MPs, the @UKLabour’s abject failure to address their obvious leadership deficit over the past 12 months leaves progressive politics in the UK in a perilous position. /5
No amount of tactical voting encouragement will succeed in ennervating a #remain vote victory short of a massive electoral compromise where @uklabour steps aside for the @LibDems in 100+ seats. #notgoingtohappen /6
And any election in which the forces of #remain are so split - seemingly choosing partisan factionalism over the future of the UK will completely demoralise the public, almost certainly depressing #remain turnout. /7
This electoral calculus has been obvious since the EU elections. But it remained to be seen if the @LibDems could hold their position. It is now clear that they have done so. /8
Now it is very nearly too late. The @BorisJohnson / Dominic Cummings trap is poised to close.

@jeremycorbyn is promising to stand down if he loses. Which is cold comfort to the stable majority of Britons who now support remain. /9
And so I suggest that we all - especially #Brexitcast @EUCouncil & @BBCBreaking - try hard not to be mesmerized by this @BorisJohnson / Dominic Cummings “Deal” sideshow, and focus on the end-game. /10
For the 🇬🇧 to have to endure a self-obsessed & somnolent Opposition Leader at this critical moment in history is a complete screwup, yes.

But for @UKLabour and its supporters its more than that, it’s the prelude to the death of the party. /11
I have very little hope that the @UKLabour shadow leadership will make the necessary steps to force their leader to come to his senses for the sake of the Union, but it does seem possible that they might do so for their party. /12
Enough said. The End. /13
P.S. Meanwhile we have @BBC journalists like @johnsweeneyroar (whose views on Assange are revolting but perhaps point to his closeness to security sources) reporting this
