Mental health awareness day has just turned into a day in which authorities and media can normalise and encourage the medicalisation of stress and trauma, convincing the public that ‘mental illness’ affects our brains and is ‘exactly the same’ as a broken bone or disease.
This narrative is deliberate.

By convincing a population that their ‘mental health issues’ are all in their heads, caused by chemical imbalances we haven’t even proven, giving them meds we can’t even prove work - no one has to deal with oppression, poverty, trauma, abuse etc
Your mental health is fuck all like a broken leg.

If you break a leg, you have a broken leg in every country in the world.

If you have mental health ‘symptoms’ you’ll be diagnosed or treated differently in every country in the world, even within countries and between teams!
Normalising the psychiatric diagnosis of people suffering trauma, stress, oppression and poverty is NOT good practice.

It’s about teaching the general public that pathologisation, medication and psychiatric diagnosis is good for them and shouldn’t be ‘shamed’.
The amount of interviews with celebs I have seen this week in which they are saying that their mental health is caused by a brain chemical imbalance and they’ll need meds for the rest of their lives.

Oh really? Nothing to do with the pressure of fame, fortune and media then?
Everyone has got to open their eyes to what is happening here. There are no advantages for the public here. Convincing us all that we are mentally ill and need meds for the magical brain chemical imbalance that funnily enough they never test you for or prove or check - is a con
How many people have been fed the same BS that their MH problems are down to brain chemical imbalances? Did your doc test those chemicals? Did they retest them after your meds? Did the meds rebalance those chemicals? Who fuckin knows eh. Let’s just keep increasing the dosage.
Know how many homeless, traumatised, poor, abused people are put on psychiatric drugs and told it’s a ‘mental illness’ whilst being left in those horrible situations or left with unresolved trauma?
