Me : No. A lot is like £100k per year. A hugely obscene amount is £200k per year. Off the charts and "oh my god I didn't know there was that much money" is £2M per year. You go girl, take the money and run to the bank.

X : You think I should ...
Me : I was expecting you to tell me £300k in which case I would say, go for it. At £2M ... bejezzus. You're talking football star money in a tech world. A couple of years and you're set for life.

X : You don't see a downside?
Me : If this was arms trading, oil, a questionable culture or something highly dubious then yes. But a VP role in a tech company because you're a superstar and at football salary money? It's hard to see a downside because of future opportunities ...

... just don't go turning into some neoliberal laissez faire fantasist. Keep off the Ayn Rand and remember that you're part of a society rather than a special class of person that deserves a bunker in New Zealand. First against the wall come the revolution etc etc.
