1) We have changed the conversation dramatically since the Sandy Hook mass shooting tragedy in 2012. Gun control was barely mentioned in 2008 or 2012 Elections but now ALL 19 Democrat Presidential candidates support an assault weapons ban! @nytimes

2) In 2013, a few months after 20 children & educators were killed by a gunman with an AR15 in Sandy Hook, 30% of the Democratic caucus in the Senate voted against the assault weapons ban. nytimes.com/2013/04/18/us/… @nytimes
3) Now, the biggest disagreement between the Democratic Presidential candidates is whether people who already own those assault weapons should be required to sell them to the government, or simply given the option to do so. #BanAssaultWeapons
4) Now, some Democratic Presidential candidates support a federal gun registry. In 2013, the Manchin-Toomey background check bill explicitly prohibited gun registry & a person could be fined & imprisoned up to 15 years trying to create a registry. @nytimes
5) Now, 13 Democratic Presidential candidates want to require a license to own a gun! CT’s permit-to-purchase law reduced gun homicides by 40% between 1996 & 2005. 296 lives were saved in 10 years. washingtonpost.com/blogs/govbeat/…
6) Former Vice President @JoeBiden is calling for a ban on all online sales of firearms, ammunition, kits, and gun parts. joebiden.com/gunsafety/ #EndGunViolence #2020GunSafety
7) Senator @ElizabethWarren wants a 30% excise tax on guns & 50% on ammunition-to reduce new gun & ammunition sales overall & to bring in new federal revenue that we can use for gun violence prevention & enforcement of existing gun laws. medium.com/@teamwarren/pr… #2020GunSafety
