From a call to develop new “assassin’s mace” technologies, to the emphasis on drones and deep sea equipment, to discussion of CPUs and OSs, this is a great illustration of the technologies and partnerships, including the PLA’s AMS and NUDT, that are at the heart of this agenda.

@MilitaryTimes Since I just commissioned this July with no prior service, I'm still so new to the military that I'm equally excited and overwhelmed by all that I have to learn.
@MilitaryTimes Honestly, as an Ensign and a reservist, I do feel like an imposter sometimes, and there are so many basic things about the Navy that I just don't know and am still learning how to navigate.

The CCP is increasingly depending on its civilian economy to develop its military capabilities. After analyzing 65,727 international trade & 429 investment transactions by our sample, we pinpointed 14 risk indicators that a company may be contributing to PLA supply chains:
But what’s the big problem with MCF? MCF is ushering Chinese civilian companies into the defense economy even as they are encouraged to innovate by adapting foreign tech. This relationship creates clear risk that sensitive tech from abroad could find its way into the PLA’s hands.

Some background: The Chinese government has long looked greedily at China’s dynamic hi-tech sector. It wants to harness the tech industry's efficiency and capacity to innovate for national security objectives, most notably, turning the PLA into a ‘world-class fighting force.’
This isn’t a crazy idea. Why do you think DoD has DIUx? Or contracts w companies like Lockheed Martin? There are many things the private sector is simply better at doing, esp in emerging tech, but stove piping in China's defense sector has prevented this type of cross-pollination
