Many people think Brexit will be behind us if WA concluded between UK and EU. U.K. will indeed legally become a third country vis-à-vis the EU but it will in fact remain EU linked during the transition period. What will happen afterwards?/1
Then the time will come to make the most difficult choices. What to do? What will be the future GB relations with EU: on trade on goods,on services,investments,exchange of data,internal security and fight terrorism,foreign policy and external security, research, transports./2
At that time, U.K. will not have yet concluded any trade agreement with other partners in the world among those the biggest is the USA.This will take more time. The trade relations with the EU 27 will still, by far, be the most important for Britain ( between 45 and 50%?)./3
Aiming at a simple FTA with the EU, without following the rules of the EU single market and be part of the EU custom union, will probably reduce the exchanges.Would be worse if social and environmental norms are abandoned./4
In any case, Brexit is and will be on going task, even if the WA signed and concluded in the weeks to come.5/5.
Transition period is until 31 December 2020 but might be one or two years more if common agreement EU/U.K.
