Amazing. Sondland even suggested language for Zelensky to use when speaking with Trump. He advised Zelensky should say he would “leave no stone unturned” when investigating Trump’s political opponents.

Trump had learned in the early months of his presidency that he couldn’t lift the sanctions against Russia, because they had been passed by Congress and were veto-proof. 2/6
He must have realized (at least at some point) that he was in a similar situation with regard to the military aid for Ukraine that Congress had appropriated. This meant that he could not *actually* withhold the aid (at least indefinitely) as part of a real deal quid pro quo. 3/6
