So the SDF’s chief Mazlum Kobane is being thankful to Trump.
The Kurds are making the same mistake as the Syrian rebels.

They let their patrons sell them but have no choicebut to cling to what support they still have. That stops them from fighting back as they lose ground gradually. By the end of it, they’ll find themselves with nothing.
If the rebels, for example, figured that Turkey abandoned them after Aleppo, they’d probably have unified and fought back with the little they had. But Turkey still offered them hope & led them on. Soon they’ll lose Idlib, and end up being border guards for a little while longer.
As expected over and over, the Kurds would accept any sort of support from the US even after they lost the areas that matter the most for them. They wouldn’t go against the US, mobilize for an all-out resistance against Turkey, and just push for reconciliation with Russia/Assad.
The Kurds are back to the weird situation in 2017, before the Turkish incursion in northwestern Syria in Afrin: Part of their territories under Russia’s influence, and another part under American influence.

Eventually they’ll lose both, even if they opted for a deal with Assad.
