@RepCummings One day off the House floor in the lobby where reporters interview lawmakers I was talking with Cummings about some news of the day, gathering quotes with my trusty tape recorder when he looked down and said: "Lemme ask you something. Do you like what you do? .... 2/
@RepCummings Yah, know chasing us all around w a tape recorder?" We both burst into laughter, moved over to one of the couches off the chamber and a long convo about "life" and how to find purpose and meaning in it ensued.

@RepCummings interest in other humans led to the most real and unexpected convos I've had ever with a lawmaker. No more tape recorder. Just him and I kicking back and sharing stories.
Yeah, a lawmaker took the time for that with a relatively unknown print reporter, which I was at the time.
