The typical Trump voter is the guy at the end of the bar who still talks about his high school football heroics bc that was the high point of his life, and who blames people of color & feminism for messing up his world instead of the rich white folks who never cared about him.
but he still thinks he'll be rich some day so he gives the rich a pass so long as he can still rhetorically and politically beat up on people of color, immigrants and libs...
his addiction to the psychological wage of his whiteness (as noted by WEB DuBois) as well as the psychological wage of his masculinity, Christianity and heterosexuality allows him to let himself be exploited by the rich so long as he get so keep his edge over "those people"
there comes a point where one can be empathic to this person's pain but yet insist that we can no longer coddle them in their indulgence of fantasies: of whiteness, manhood, etc. It is time for such persons to grow up. Self help. Y'all preach it but don't know of the practice
I should have said Trump base cultist here...obviously there were lots of better off folks who voted for Trump. But they didn't NEED him psychologically...all the things he gave them (tax cuts) they could have gained thru any R president. Only the end of the bar guys needed him
