Here's something interesting... the Liberal Democrats have registered a "description" with the Electoral Commission:

"Liberal Democrats – To stop Brexit"

Seems it would be ok for them to use it on ballot papers (unless I've misinterpreted the guidance).

Here's the EC guidance about party names, descriptions etc. The information on p.8 suggests that the Liberal Democrats would be able to ask to use the longer description instead. If that's true, it's genius!

Note: they're not the only ones tinkering with naming. The Brexit Party has registered various phrases too, including: "Brexit Party, Vote to Leave"

We won't know until the postal ballots start arriving which form of words the various parties end up using, but if there are explicit Remain and Leave appeals on the ballot paper that puts the spotlight back on Brexit at the last minute, when people are alone with their pens.
It reminds me a little of the genius move the Brexit Party pulled with their logo, which turned into an arrow on the ballot paper. I hate what they stand for, but I can recognise a clever-yet-legitimate trick when I see one.

One impediment in the way of widespread Remain Alliance pacts is "short money" i.e. the money that opposition parties receive. It can be a significant source of funding for small parties. Greens got £112,888.78 in 2018/2019 and Plaid Cymru £101,920.04.

Snag is, it's based on a combination of total votes received and seats won. You have to win at least 1 seat and 150,000 votes across the UK, or 2 seats and no minimum vote total. So if candidates don't stand in dozens of constituencies because of a pact, the vote total plummets.
Now, it's all very well to say "country before party" because that's fine in the abstract. But it is a real consideration that can't just be swept under the carpet. Every extra 1,000 votes a party can muster up nationally will be worth £176.5 a year in short funding.

The spending limit rules for the upcoming election are complicated, but fascinating. Basically they reach back in time because the regulated period is from 13 December 2018 to 13 December 2019.

The amount each party is allowed to spend on the general election depends on the number of candidates they're fielding, but also on whether they stood in the European elections or not, and if so how much they spent then. Parties can carry over unspent European election limits.
It is also affected by what they spent in the local elections, and on any by-elections during the regulated period.

The basic spending limit for the GE is: £30,000 x number of seats being contested.

Summary of Nigel Farage's Brexit Party press conference:
- they are ready to stand all over England, Scotland & Wales and have 500+ candidates who have signed up
- fully funded for the campaign already
- wants to form a Leave Alliance with Tories and other like-minded candidates
- precondition: Boris Johnson *must* dump his deal and pivot to a Canada style free trade deal. BP won't form any alliances if the deal's still alive
- talked twice of a 1 July 2020 deadline to get this new free trade deal Brexit signed off, and if not leave with no deal
- doesn't care what the motives of other parties are to join the Leave Alliance as long as they all sign up to the same Brexit approach
- gives until 14 November for horse trading with potential allies (that's the final day for candidates to register or withdraw)

#brexit seems to be all about feeling over fact and this is especially true of the ReesMogg ERG faction of the Tory right.
I never bought the line that #brexit is about Democracy because most of the Tory right had zero enthusiasm for improving democracy in the UK few of them care about unelected house of lords the unfair FPTP electoral system or transparency on the contrary
Most of the Tory right are interested only in constitutional changes that suit them and if anything strive to be as little democratically accountable as possible.
