So about the MOU signed with the Mi'kmaw and the Metis National Council, let's take a closer look shall we , since @DarrylLeroux has brought it up again. I am going to go through this, point by point to show proof that some of these statements are verifiably false.
First point true - but they forgot to mention one other treaty which was also recognized by the Supreme Court of Canada.The La Have treaties of 1760-61. Where also formally recognized.
Vol430 Indian Affairs - Francis Mius. My 7th great uncle - My great nan's, Evangeline Muise, 4th great uncle.

Francis Muis -novascotia.ca- Francis Muis for myself the Tribe of La Heve Indians of what I am chief - weird that they left this treaty out of that list !! 🤔
Moving on to point 2. - Parties are concerned about Individuals claiming Metis identity in NS. - Now if there were no Metis here for starters, why would they care? Someone could claim to be a purple dino, it wouldn't bother them any, but they know there is a Metis history here. Mikmaq Resource Centre - glossary of terms used in aboriginal historical research - non - status
That is what concerns them. Rather than working with and accepting their relatives, they have decided to say we don't exist instead. Hard to do with all the written historical evidence of us. Looks kind of silly to me. Mikmaq Resource Centre - glossary of terms used in aboriginal historical research - Metis.
Did we always use the term to describe ourselves? No - but neither did the Western Metis - in fact Adam Gaudry himself said they never used the exact term to describe his own family. adam gaudry's thesis.
Now if it is good enough for Adam Gaudry, why the double standard for the East ? We get told these Western Metis grow up knowing exactly who they are !!
Canadian Senate - 23 issue - Randall Ranville, Genealogist, Metis Cultural and Heritage Resource Centre Inc. - a lot of folks did not know they were Metis, they find out at a funeral or a wedding.

Point 3 -False historically - that the Mi'kmaw are concerned about the Metis in NS who claim they have constitutional section 35 rights in NS! First and foremost, all of the groups that I know, say those membership cards are for membership identity purposes only!
You're probably getting tired of seeing this and me pointing it out, but - Micmac News-1973-03.- Constitution and By-Laws Union of Nova Scotia Indians - section 3.10 an Indian Means = Metis in section 3.12. Metis were also in the bylaws when the first land claims in 1974.

Point 4 - Parts True and Parts False - The courts have recognized the "Metis Nation" as being geographically located in the Northwest of Canada. The courts hae recognized the "Red River Metis" as being historically located in the Northwest of Canada. However , in the McCargar
case against MNA - the courts have very specifically said. " MNA is a voluntary non profit society" " The society styles itself as the Metis Nation, it is a society not a Nation" "It is true that much of the terminology of the associations bylaws are redolent of sovereign
government, just saying so does not make it true, It is not at the present time, neither sovereign or governmental and the societies act does not grant it such powers " " It is inappropriate for an organization to announce to the world at large , that it's members are clothed in
constitutional rights”. She said that doing so constitutes an attempt to usurp the role of the courts on a
fundamental issue affecting all Canadians “including those with legitimate Aboriginal claims” - caid.ca/MNADec2018.pdf

Brady.Quotes - Metis Museum - It is my considered opinion that no further application should be recieved from any Metis with an inclination toward the nomadic life. //- otherwise known as don't fall in line, out you go !!
Point 5 - MNC have led "Metis Nation" since 1983 and they themselves passed a resolution saying there was no other Metis -- lol -- Yes True to the resolution ( how convenient of them ,lol ) - False that they are the only National organization to represent Metis people. MNC formed Native council of canada presents statement to un human rights group - clem chartier- screengrab of part of article.

Point 6 - The SCC in Powley established a process that determines aboriginal rights for Metis - which requires a claimant to have a current and historic connection to a legally recognized Metis community - Well that is completely true.

Point 7 - UNDRIP - Article 33
1. Indigenous peoples have the right to determine their own identity or membership in accordance with their customs and traditions. - That is very True !! - However that also goes for Metis as well as for the Mi'kmaw. - Kind of ironic they are here
trying to establish the identity of Metis people, while declaring they have the right to establish their own people. Awkward -- So as stated, we too have the right to determine our own identity and memberships.
UNDRIP - Article 2
Indigenous peoples and individuals are free and equal to all other peoples and individuals and have the right to be free from any kind of discrimination, in the exercise of their rights, in particular that based on their indigenous origin or identity.
UNDRIP - Article 3
Indigenous peoples have the right to self-determination. By virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development.

them of their lands, territories or resources;
c) Any form of forced population transfer which has the aim
or effect of violating or undermining any of their rights;
d) Any form of forced assimilation or integration;
e) Any form of propaganda designed to promote or incite
racial or ethnic discrimination directed against them.
You really might want to take another look at Article 8 Section 2 e - @DarrylLeroux

Article 17
1. Indigenous individuals and peoples have the right to enjoy fully all rights established under applicable international and domestic labour law./Valerie Arnault Pelletier - Aboriginal Coordinator - .only accepts cards for Metis from MNC - Senate Issue 23.

Article 42
The United Nations, its bodies, including the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, and specialized agencies, including at the country level, and States shall promote respect for and full application of the provisions of this Declaration and follow up the effectiveness
of this Declaration
Point 8 - The Mi'kmaq will decide who is Mi'kmaq - true - I haven't heard anyone suggest otherwise.
Point 9 - The MNC have defined for themselves who is Metis - Not quite True - McCargar VS MNA said - That the non profit societies could make their own rules and bylaws but it only applied to those who were members of that society. That others could and would be @DarrylLeroux
Metis who were not members of those societies. It represents it's members, rather than a Metis community as a whole . One can resign from the association and still be Metis and get many benefits. - so as much as they would love the final say, that is definitely false !!
Point 10 - only these two parties have the right to recognize and define who is a citizen of their nation. --This one I am unsure on but I am going to call bullshit !! - Pretty sure just one section of the Mi'kmaw Nation does not get the final say without consultation with
all the people on who is Mi'kmaw. -we have already established through McCargar that MNC is not a nation it is a registered Non-Profit Society that is controlled under the society act. (It's hard to trust with all these untrue technicality's)2 national metis groups - MNC and CAP
Métis National Council Secretariat Inc - not-for-profit organization _www.metisnation.ca. - CAP also has an accord with the Canadian gov on Metis, so pretty sure they or their affiliates have a say on citizens in the nations as well.
Agreement of cooperation between y'all is not technically correct, we have already established MNC is not a Nation. federal corp mnc dissolved and then renewed . The governing legislation is Canada Corporation Act.
Corporate Name: Assembly of First Nations NS Regional Office/ I couldn't find a nation under The Mi'kmaq of Nova Scotia - is that a federal or a provincial Nation ?
I did find a provincial society named THE UNION OF NOVA SCOTIA MI'KMAQ - as of: 2019-11-07 03:32 PM - who Terrance Paul is the director of who signed the MOU - which must be awkward considering that used to be named Union of Nova Scotia Indians - who had Metis in their
constitution and bylaws .. 1975 Micmac News - constitution and bylaws - Metis in Nova Scotia Section 3.12
9th General Assembly - Union of NS Indians - Halifax NS February 1978 - MicmacNews-1978-02 - Metis in UNSI Bylaws.
To work collaboratively on individuals misrepresenting themselves as Metis -well I think I have more than proven there were Individuals who considered themselves Metis long before this dog and pony show - I think you should work collaboratively on getting your stories straight 😳
I think that just about covers what I had to say on that !!
