The world doesn't need another take on "the value factor."

In contrast Jim Simons gets it exactly right: "Statistic predictor signals erode. It can be five years or 10 years. You have to keep coming up with new things because the market is against us." 25iq.com/2014/07/09/a-d…
Factor investing enhance returns in a index fund. Enough investors making irrational choices can create a factor that can be arbitraged for a period. The value of that factor can last as long as investors continue to make that irrational choice. That can work until it doesn't.
"Gradually the world wises up. You can run your Geiger counter over the rubble [looking for given factor] and it won't click." So you need to find a new factor.

Or completely change approach by using value as an analytical style (e.g., buy a stock like AAPL at a bargain price)

Back in the courtroom today. I'll play a bit of catch up with you all now that I'm back down in the media room. A medical examiner finished up on the stand and then Bates's youngest daughter testified. I'll tweet out the notes in this thread. @KVUE kvue.com/article/news/l…
When court started up, the defense cross-examined the medical examiner we heard from yesterday. She testified that there were substances (meth) found in Bates's blood and clarified that her job is not to tell who committed the crime, just what was done.
Remember, yesterday she testified the cause of death was blunt force trauma and the manner was homicide.

Back in the courtroom today--sorry I haven't been tweeting. I was inside the courtroom as opposed to in the media room. Cross examination finished up for Villegas, the RRPD detective. Then one of Bates's daughters took the stand. She's the teenager.
She said her mom pulled her out of school in Spring of 2017--just a few weeks before the end of the school year. She started homeschooling--used a computer for lessons.
At this time, she lived in Round Rock with her mom, her step dad, and her younger sister. (please note that I will not be using the girls' names.)
