As the #DemocraticDebate is happening, let me say a few words about @ewarren ... yes - I’m sorry to say - a thread. 1/

I supported Bernie Sanders in 2016. Like, really, really supported ... as in, was a Bernie delegate at the DNC in Philadelphia. 2/

Living in NH, we don’t have to seek out primary participation. For better and/or for worse, it comes to us.

I went into this election cycle with an open mind. Maybe slightly predisposed to Bernie, but willing to consider all candidates whose values mostly align with mine. 3/

By Spring 2019, I’d seen & spoken with a number of contenders. I tried to stay open and receptive. After @ewarren’s umpteenth beautifully constructed, lucid, pragmatic plan, though, it seemed I’d found my candidate. 4/

I met with some staffers. They were earnest, engaged, & extremely responsive. They also clearly care about connecting with voters, even those who aren’t supporting their candidate ... ESPECIALLY those who aren’t supporting their candidate. They care about respectful dialogue. 5/

Then came the wonderfully surprising next step: getting to know @ewarren herself, at least a little bit. We had an event for her at our house in July, capped at 300 people. 400+ showed up. People were starting to pay attention. 6/

Virtually all national candidates are forced to adopt public personas, which often tend to be at odds with their real, private personas.

Elizabeth Warren’s public and private persona are effectively one and the same. 7/

She’s more present, engaged, and sincere than any candidate I’ve ever met. @ewarren is warm. She’s caring. She’s considerate and polite and gracious and has loads and loads of class. 8/

Elizabeth Warren writes thank-you notes. She calls supporters. She looks you in the eye. She asks questions. She listens. She actually seems to ... wait for it ... LIKE PEOPLE. 9/

She waits for the media to be all set up before doing press. She crouches down to talk - and listen - to children. She genuinely seems to enjoy campaigning, a rarity in this age. 10/

Even her & her husband’s super-dog is a reflection of her best qualities: @FirstDogBailey is affectionate, approachable, energetic, and unfailingly positive.

Her husband is no slouch either. 11/

At the end of the day, this woman exudes the qualities we most desperately need right now: decency, integrity, empathy, grit, calm, intelligence, focus, commitment, and vision.

She also has a wicked sense of humor (see, e.g., the campaign’s Billionaire Tears mug). 12/

All of this is on top of the fact that she is running the most substantive campaign in American presidential politics in eons.

Elizabeth Warren identifies a problem. She studies it. She proposes a solution. She tells us how she’s going to pay for it. 13/

Then, she asks any and everyone - friend, foe, or undecided - to weigh. She’s so secure in who she is & so committed to doing what’s best for most Americans, that she wastes no time on petty infighting. 14/

Elizabeth Warren is a once-in-a-generation postulant for he Office of POTUS. We often hear how “the American people deserve better.”

If that’s true, we have a chance to elect the candidate who we purportedly deserve. 15/15
