That whole STEM dIsRuPtIoN model can’t continue when a bunch of annoying historians and ethicists are telling you it won’t work
and it’s easy to justify funding “hard“ sciences when the DoD is pouring a ton of cash into STEM
Nothing inherently wrong with science or technology or engineering or mathematics at all. But there is a problem with over funding them to the detriment of ethics, sociology, history, journalism etc.
I think about this a lot lately

This masturbating to the end of the world bullshit has gotten really fucking old. How about they go live in space or whatever the fuck they’re trying to do and leave us alone so we can actually start to fix shit?
Really, it’s just laziness. They don’t want to clean up their messes. It’s like a toddler smearing poop all over the walls and then running out of the room. Fine, I don’t want people around who don’t want to put the hard work in to make shit better anyway.

From the architecture books I've been reading, the #ux world is underread: likely because "it's not tech" which dodges fundamental similarities - architects design things that require engineers.

There's a 2000+ year history we can learn from. I'll keep sharing salient gems.

There's a purpose for panels and debates. But also a reason why they fail in "changing minds" or creating power-balanced convos.

it's very common/easy/exciting to start the process of adding new content or functionality to a UI by designing a new interaction/or style. most designers start this way but every new interaction model and/or visual style adds cognitive load...
... "why/how is this different? how do I use it? etc" instead it's best to start with existing interaction models and treat new ones as a last resort. here's a simple way to enforce that yourself:
1. list out the interaction models in your product
2. explain what each one is there for; justify its existence in words
3. when asked to add something new, go through this list and see what is most appropriate
4. if none fit, try cramming into to the closest one

To reverse something is to back up, change to opposite direction, take it all back, 180° turn around... If your jail sentance has been reversed, you're getting out.
Of course this subliminally implies that only 'pale skinned' folks r racist, so if they experience racism, it's "reverse racism." That concept itself is racist.

Racism is racism. Period.
Racism is ugly. Period.

#FYI: I don't address Mental Health & Suicide to be inspirational. I won't fill your head with sunshine & daisies because the reality of living with mental illness & suicide, especially the aftermath of surviving an attempt or losing someone by suicide, is painful & ugly.
You can look for the silver all you want, spout off & cling to platitudes like they are the only thing holding you together but what good does it do if you are unwilling to confront the stark reality of mental illness & suicide & be 100% honest that you don't have all the answers
Am I saying it is all doom and gloom? Hell no because you have good days, bad days....you have moments that motivate you to fight harder..that motivate you to keep pushing through, that motivate you to at very least keep your heart beating, to keep breathing
