A few things that few people will understand, but I encourage you to take to heart. A message to my comrades, but also to everyone else:
1. Many journalists have asked me what I'd say to MBS if I sat across him. In the past I wouldn't know how to answer, or would say some tough guy bullshit. Now my answer would be: I wouldn't say anything. I'll just give him a hug. Yes he wants me dead. But I'll give him a hug./
This young guy who has all this power, and is just out of his wits. He's caused so much pain and hatred that it scares him, and he finds no way out except to inflict even more pain and hatred. He poses as a tough guy, but deep down he's a scared kid.
2. I want every comrade across the MENA region to know that the dictators are a distraction. I'm living under protection because the dictators want me dead and I'm telling you this - the dictators are a distraction. Dwell on these words and understand what they mean./
If all we do is punch dictators then even if we win, we lose. They've already occupied our countries, we shouldn't also let them occupy our minds and monopolize our priorities. We aren't cage fighters, we're builders, architects of a new world. Our job today is to build.
3. Part of being powerful is to learn how to forgive and how to be truly humble. Chasing after every slight and insult is a sign of those who aren't fit for power and power isn't fit for them; they're the most likely to abuse it. We have enough examples in the world of this./
The activists of the MENA as a collective community have been too used to being the powerless. You need to awaken to your own power. You have power, and you're going to get more powerful. Heal yourselves today so you can properly wield power tomorrow.
