This is looking like a thumping victory for the pro-democracy camp in #HongKong and complete wipe out for the pro-Beijing camp. Right now Democracy camp 115 v pro-establishment 9 !!! Catastrophic loss for Carrie Lam’s administration.
That is unless there are lots of pro-establishment results to come in?

Wow! Reports that #USA, #Britain, #Australia, #Canada, #Japan #Germany etc set to call out #China Ministry of StateSecurity hackers including indictments. Allegation is that it’s been to steal intellectual property. It’ll be a firey session at Chinese Foreign Ministry tomorrow.
Plus looks like sanctions on #China could follow. So much for those happy trade war negotiations. #USA
2 Chinese citizens named ZhuHua & ZhangShilong have been named as hackers linked to #China’s Ministry of StateSecurity+now facing #USA indictments re alleged theft of sensitive commercial secrets. US officials say there’s massive systemic hacking backed by the Chinese Government

1. THREAD: Today is #HongKong’s Election Day. The polls will open momentarily through 10:30 p.m. local time. Across 18 districts, 452 seats are contested under the first-past-the-post system. (27 ex officio members represent rural areas.) The opposition needs 240 for a majority.
2. The 18 District Councils focus on local issues, so traditionally, these elections are far less politicized than the territory-wide Legislative Council, which makes laws and is much more powerful. However, against the backdrop of the ongoing protests, the mood is different.
3. Until disqualified last month for advocating self-determination, my friend @joshuawongcf had intended to run in the South Horizons West constituency. The incident has made international headlines and reminded us not to depoliticize the elections. wsj.com/articles/disqu…

‘5 Demands, Not One Less!’ has bn HKer’s steadfast rallying cry thru the mvmt. It started as just 1, but increased repression & changing political reality meant list of conditions HKers believe necessary to safeguard rights & way of life has grown to 4, then 5, and now 6.

The phrase is referenced *everywhere*, and appears even more often than the more-loaded '...Revolution of our times!' It adorns our Lennon Walls. We slap it on hard hats. We slap it on Lam- that's what the open palm means. And even our goose memes nod to our 5 demands.

HK mvmt's art & methods hark back to resistances & revolutions through history. It's a recognition that HKers' fight is part of sth bigger- that we're just the latest custodian of hope in the long struggle for freedom. 1/13
Our art borrowed from images of resistance thru history even as most HKers were still skittish about what we meant by ‘revolution’. Looking back on our art, it'd seem our hearts hv been screaming for a new world long before our brains wld admit the old one was already gone. 2/13

HK will likely ignite again on June 12 when the extradition bill is scheduled for second reading. Calls for actions have are now circulating in Telegram groups. Not heeding the popular will is going to have dire long term consequences for the HK government.
