I'm on a plane bound from Honolulu to Dallas. The pilot just notified passengers that we will be traveling with the remains of a U.S. veteran who fought in the Korean War.
I don't have a lot of details. But it's important to note that this is a common and important occurrence as America continues to identify and send home its fallen service members from the Korean War. The U.S. military lab that does so is here in Hawaii.
We're told a ceremony is planned upon arrival in Texas. At least one soldier in dress uniform is aboard this flight.

U.S. official with knowledge of Syria ops it's true there is a plan to send tanks and soldiers to oil fields. Says it would be near Conoco gas plant, same basic site where hundreds of pro-Assad and Russian contractors were killed in February while moving on American position. 1/
I'm told initial force would likely be "about a company," i.e., a handful of tanks and a couple hundred soldiers. But source doesn't rule out that it couldn't grow from there. Describes it as a "complete change in macro approach" for the U.S. in Syria. 2/
All that said: This wasn't approved or a done deal as of last night. It was supposedly "a plan."
