1) Yes, Obama's WH committed atrocities & liberals did not call him out like they ought

2) But if this is all you've got, then all you've got is above-it-all cynicism that makes more a case for ignoring Trump's flagrant atrocities than igniting damp liberal tinder

3) So don't
Trump's part of a continuum; a deliberate Republican strategy of courting racist impulses to build an authoritarian political movement, and of a Dem party far too ready to take on their opponent's bad assumptions than to fight to make better ones. We *should* talk about that...
Obama's use of drones is one of the stains on his presidency. And we *should* talk about that. We must do better.

However, there's a certain type of lazy stimulus/response out there that simply responds to Trump with performative cynicism or "OBAMA TOO!" that makes me skeptical.
It makes me skeptical b/c it doesn't go anywhere. It seems to exist to either boost the speaker as one who has it all figured out maan, or to literally shut down the shock that is a natural reaction to Trump's gross abuses.

Shocks wake people up. Let's not shut them down.
Noting that Trump is uniquely shocking (he is) is not the same as saying all that went before is good. Trying to bring all that came before to the same level seems designed to negate the experience people are having, which may awaken them to political realities.

Don't do that.
