Remember this from 2011? - ‘Before the election David Cameron promised NHS staff there would be no more top-down reorganisation of the NHS’. We then had reforms ‘so big they could be seen from space’. Now @Conservatives promise the NHS is not for sale! Yeah right #GE2019 #VoteNHS
And this from 2012? ‘Professor David Green, Vice Chancellor of Worcester University, has written to Mr Cameron asking him to intervene to stop what he called the “madness” of cuts to training numbers’ #GE2019 #VoteNHS telegraph.co.uk/news/health/ne…
Note the Department for Health responded using the metric of a Nurses per Bed increase. Why? Because NHS beds were being cut faster than nurse training numbers! The over 65 year olds weren’t born yesterday. This decimation of the NHS has been a long term @Conservatives project
2012 was the year to hide bad news. I.e. HSCA 2012. @Conservatives failed to remove the NHS from the opening ceremony. HCSA removed responsibility for the health of citizens from the Secretary of State for Health, which the post had carried since the inception of the NHS in 1948
And guess who was putting pressure on Danny Boyle to remove the NHS from the Olympics? Yes it was @Jeremy_Hunt who was culture secretary at the time showing his true colours. @TacticalVote #VoteNHS #GE2019 telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/07/1…
By 2013 @TheKingsFund are warning about the financial squeeze on the NHS which will inevitably lead to a reduction in the quality of care unless a change of direction occurs. @Conservatives decided to carry on regardless. No laughs just more pain. bmj.com/content/346/bm…
2014 and 2013 was a disastrous year for the NHS. @Conservatives kept their nerve & ignored the pleas from @ChrisCEOHopson The proposed actions remain much as they were 5 years ago. This is an orchestrated slow motion car crash prior to scrappage! #VoteNHS theguardian.com/healthcare-net…
So rather than having a year by year analysis of the demise, NHS England produced a five year forward view. In summary it promises improvement in 5 years’ time - indefinitely. In the meantime the NHS gets picked apart and contracted out piece by piece. england.nhs.uk/five-year-forw…
As an NHS consultant, I’ve attended a number of meetings with speakers from @NHSEngland They invariably start with ‘I’m x from NHSE, don’t hold it against me’. Says it all really. I don’t envy them.
2015 & we had the NHS ‘funding’ settlement. NHS received the minimum amount requested without the predicated social care funding increase. The @Conservatives promised a 7 day NHS Err Whaat? & integrating health and social care services by 2020 and strong funding for social care!!
Well, @BorisJohnson still can’t find the social care funding settlement for 2020 that he left down the back of a sofa in 10 Downing Street. He’s a conman. In the meantime millions of children, families & adults are suffering through @Conservatives negligence. #VoteNHS #GE2019
2016 and @George_Osborne brought in the pension tax and taper reforms. These are directly leading to NHS consultants retiring early and thousands of NHS Consultants reducing the work they provide to the NHS in order to avoid egregious tax bills. Govt. have created the #NHSCrisis
And NHS doctors had torrents of misleading spun spew hurled at them (& the public) from the health secretary. Consultants have always worked weekends/BHs. The junior doctor dispute opened the eyes of so many NHS trainees
2017 & in order to further undermine confidence in the NHS @Jeremy_Hunt promised the world to the public while concurrently starving the NHS of resources. And UK Govt. continued cuts to social care. @voteNHS #GE2019
By 2018 NHS Performance was deteriorating across most measures. This led to targets being readjusted by @Conservatives in 2019.
Come 2019 & it’s predictably getting much worse across the board despite improved productivity. The NHS has simply not been afforded the resources it needs.
And over the last 10 years the proportion of the NHS budget allocated to private providers has risen exponentially from an est. 2% to the current estimate of over 10%. uk.news.yahoo.com/private-firms-…
So all this talk on MSM @BBCNews @BBCPolitics about the NHS being part of trade talks between the UK & US is merely a DISTRACTION from the @Conservatives dismal stewardship of Health & Social Care AND that under the HCSA 2012 the NHS is already being sold off and tendered out
So as a NHS Consultant I ask everyone to retweet this message. Any semblance of acceptable Public Services incl. our NHS will be gone if @Conservatives gain a majority in #GE2019  Vote tactically to remove these charlatans from office. #VoteNHS #TacticalVote @TacticalVote
Hi @threadreaderapp please unroll
We need genuine investment in our National Health Service across the UK not more of these empty promises we’ve heard again & again. #VoteNHS #TacticalVote @drphilhammond @NHSMillion @NhsDismantling #NHSCrisis #NHSForSale #NHSPensionCrisis
