What do I mean?

The problem is in a two or three way marginal, the danger is if the pro-Remain or pro-Brexit vote is split, the other side wins

Here is my take on #TacticalVoting in #Wycombe:

1) 2017 and even 2015 stats are based on a very different context and we have 2 different parliamentary candidates (#LibDem & Labour) 👇
2) Labour are not a #ProRemain party. They’ve repeatedly voted against #Remain amendments & refused to join the #RemainAlliance. #Wycombe is still a #Remain constituency. Corbyn is a Brexiteer & can whip his MPs to vote for a #Lexit deal, contrary to suggestions at local level 👇
3) Labour have a national policy against entering into pacts. They won't do it.

I ‘m not sure people ‘get’ tactical voting. In principle we understand the idea of not voting for our first choice in order to influence the parliamentary maths.
(1)
But we are still drawn, magnetically, emotionally or tribally, to the person or party we would like to win without objectively assessing whether that person actually has a chance.
(2)
This is not a #referendum. If the person you vote for does not win, you are left with nothing. (3)

Right, I have to get something off my chest. I'm feeling angry and disappointed. I'm writing this thread spontaneously, so I'm not sure how long it will be or if it will make sense.

For once, no humour, because the situation is too dire and serious for that. 1/
For over 3 yrs we've railed against Brexit. We've fought, devoting our time, energy, money & sometimes health to the fight.
In the absence of leaders, we found people to look up to: our experts. DAG, Steve Bullock, Steve Analyst, Steve Peers, Jo M., Ian Dunt, Joanna Cherry etc 2/
Somehow we achieved more than I'd imagined: we haven't left the EU and we've significantly moved Lab Brexit policy. We've outlived 2 prime ministerships and countless cabinet ministers careers.
Now we face the most important battle since June 2016: GE19. 3/

#TacticalVoting is a good plan, and it was promoted heavily it before the 2017 GE. Here are two seats that the #Conservatives still won. In #RichmondPark, where #Labour are never going to win, they took 5773 votes. Zac Goldsmith won with a majority of 45.
In Hastings and Rye, The LibDems, who were never going to win, took 1885 votes. Amber Rudd won by 346 votes. Had the #LibDems and #Labour stood aside appropriately in these two seats, and told its supporters who to support, there would have probably been more favourable results.
My concern is that, like in 2017, the #TacticalVoting message won't reach everybody. It is a shame that at least one of these parties won't entertain any concept of not standing in some constituencies.
