@IlhanMN Thread: While many of us desperately want a two state solution, your support of BDS & one-sided condemnation is an impediment to a two state, peaceful solution.

BDS founder & leader, Omar Barghouti openly and vocally opposes two-state solution. /
@IlhanMN He supports a 1state solution where Israel will be replaced by a Palestinian state encompassing all of what is now Israel &the Palestinian territories.

“Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine” (he considers all of Israel Palestine)
@IlhanMN He rejects the idea of a binational state, stating that "the binational model assumes that there are two nations with equal and competing moral claims to the land, and therefore we have to accommodate both national rights." /
@IlhanMN Omar Barghouti has said, “If the refugees were to return, you would not have a two-state solution, you’d have a Palestine next to a Palestine.” And "there is no reason why it should not be renamed Palestine.”
@IlhanMN As far as negotiating for peace, it is the Palestinians who had continually walked away or rejected peace deals.

In 2000, Israeli Prime Minister Barak accepted the Clinton parameters and Arafat walked away from the table & rejected them. In Clinton's own words:
@IlhanMN In 2005, Israel unilaterally left Gaza (due to stalled peace talks), handed it over to the Palestinian Authority (PA), dismantling 19 settlements there.

Hamas overthrew the PA in 2007 in a bloody coup, and started immediately launching missiles at Israel, vowing to destroy it
@IlhanMN Despite this, in 2008, Israeli Prime Minister Olmert offered Abbas even more than Barak, including the absorption into Israel of 150,000 Palestinians:

Yet, Abbas walked away from negotiations and rejected this too:

@IlhanMN Then in 2009, President Obama got Netanyahu to do a 10 month settlement freeze to try and restart negotiations, but Abbas REFUSED to come to the negotiating table, once again:

@IlhanMN Then once again in 2014, Abbas Rejected the Obama/Kerry framework to merely restart negotiations, as the Palestinian leader told Obama he won’t recognize a ‘Jewish Israel,’ abandon the ‘right of return,’ or commit to an ‘end of the conflict’

@IlhanMN So congresswoman, your words are empty. You're not fighting for a two-state solution, as your actions & words go against a two-state solution.

Until you pressure both sides, equally, to return to the table and negotiate for peace, you are part of the problem, not the solution
