I am fascinated by this new way of talking about Brexit which has developed during this campaign. When did Brexit become a nuisance to overcome? If it’s not a priority, why have a referendum on it? Spend 3.5 years on it? I thought it was in itself, going to be great?
Plenty of Brexiters are worried about this shift in tone. A signal that the PM doesn’t really care about the project and the yearning for change that the vote represented. That with his majority, BJ will try to return to the status quo ante as much as he can.
The basic message from the Conservatives, when it’s stripped back right now is: “We spent a long time and a lot of energy on something which isn’t a priority of the British people, that caused a lot of chaos, but only we can stop it and move on.”

And in fairness, it’s working.
