She’s also an enthusiastic singer, a prolific carnivore, and a surprisingly good photographer, but one only gets so many characters.
We got a late in the late afternoon the day she was born. We'd found out she was coming a few days before. After the call, we went to the hospital. Her birth mother was holding her. We fell in love.
That first night, she spent some time with us and some with her birth parents.

Our family and friends came. They loved her. The next day, we got a medical report: she'd failed a hearing test and had some holes in her heart: ASDs and VSDs. But mostly she was fine.
We arranged and went to court that day to finalize Max's adoption, so Pia could come home.

Her birth parents were (are) an amazing couple. They are a witness to love, and a model for us.

5 days later, she was diagnosed with a rare kind of cancer. We headed to the NICU. She had two heart attacks. But the Lord took care us.
Pia was a surprise. We weren't planning to adopt then. But the Lord brought her to us. And it's been amazing ever since. She's a grace.
