March 2017. Nunes actively subverted his own committee’s Russia inquiry and was even caught making a “peculiar midnight run” then visiting the WH for reasons that still have yet to be fully explained.

It was the confluence of the GOP purposely sabotaging its own Russian interference investigation plus Trump’s eventual firing of Comey in May 2017 that ultimately paved the way for Mueller to be appointed special counsel.
