An open letter to Labour and the LibDems...

Later today, people will vote for your two parties who would never normally do so.

They *do not* support your policies. They will vote for you because the alternative is so much worse. It's pure tactical voting.

As such, please resist the temptation with every fibre of your being to read more into the vote than its face-value outcome.

If you abuse their tactical approach by interpreting their support as partisan support for your manifesto and your plans, they will never help you again.

It will suit the Tories - who will hopefully be in Opposition - to spin the result to try to foment dissent. Let them rage impotently and rise above it.

Acknowledge the reality of the situation just as the voters have and will. Pragmatism goes all the way up.
