So the Canadian Energy Centre is already spouting misinformation under the guise of truth-telling.

In this interview, Tom Olson falsely claims that $200M in foreign grants went to anti-oil activists in BC.

This is false. 1/
#cdnpoli
The funds that Olsen is presumably referencing were for CONSERVATION GRANTS in BC, funding sustainable fishing & forestry practices & to otherwise preserve the pristine wilderness of BC’s north coast. 2/
Many of those grants were undertaken in collaboration with, & often matched by, the Harper govt, as well as the BC Liberal govt.

They have zip to do with pipelines or the Tar Sands campaign.

3/
Further, Olsen claims that the Tar Sands Campaign has received $75 million in foreign grants, including $25M from one foundation.

The generally accepted total is ~$40M.

Among all known TSC grantors, the largest I’ve found is Hewlett: $8M since 2009. nationalobserver.com/2019/10/03/ana…

Vital for Cdns to understand that the Canadian Energy Centre is just another spin machine, but with VERY deep pockets--$120M over 4 years.

They’ve started out with whoppers designed to discredit environmental critics, not contribute to public understanding. #cdnpoli
