Me : We've always had enough money to fund it properly. However, there has been a constant campaign for almost 40 years to get rid of it.

X : How does Gov fix that?
Me : It has been turned into a debt laden franchise with its own internal market. Those strategy consultants have won. The path is not going to change in this Gov. Patient budgets will be the nail in the coffin. NHS will just be a logo, a past memory.

X : Isn't that a bit defeatist?
Me : No. There are lots of good people in the NHS but you have to think about what the public need and how they are being informed i.e. some think immigration is the cause of the cuts in the service rather than Gov policy ...

... as much as I would like to save the NHS (as in its original purpose rather than as a logo for a franchise), the focus probably needs to be elsewhere e.g. the recent messaging on "flexible working conditions" i.e. expect an assault on the idea of paid holiday and other rights.
