My #2019ReadibgGoal was to read a book per week. I just finished book 51. It was my first Natalia Ginzburg.
I’m on book 52 now. When I finish it, I will post pics of the entire pile of books which have been mostly by women, queer authors, in translation, sometimes all three. I have LOVED reading my way through the year and posting mini reviews on Instagram. #2019ReadingGoals
I am very lucky to have been invited to speak at great festivals such as @akefestival in #Nigeria & @Abantu_ in South Africa & @BradfordLitFest in the UK, and where I encountered truly global, inclusive and diverse books. Most of the authors I’ve read have been people of colour.
Authors in my #2019ReadingGoals have also been gender diverse/non-conforming. Several have been #LGBTQ+ from around the world.
I set out to intentionally avoid big names, best sellers, white cishet men etc #2019ReadingGoal
And I also especially sought out books in translation. #2019ReadingGoals
