Honest question. What’s the deal with “The Rising?” It’s a political talk show hosted by Hill TV. I see many Twitter progressives linking to it, yet The Hill is owned by a big Trump supporter. cnn.com/2019/11/18/med…
The Rising has featured conspiracy theorist Jimmy Dore. They also seem very into Gabbard and Sanders, but decidedly cool on Warren. Am I right to be suspicious, given their far right, Trumpy funding?
I have no reason to suspect the motives of the people on air, but the motives of the funder seem sketchy. What’s a guy like this trying to accomplish by producing a “progressive” show? Is it purely a business decision?
Guilt by association is not fair. But still. This is most certainly a bad sign, yes? And yes, it’s THAT Sp*ncer.
If, as I suspect, this show’s producer is trying to ratf*ck and split the anti-Trump left to help Trump win, then why do prominent Bernie surrogates agree to appear on the show, thereby providing positive PR for it?
This is not an anti-Bernie thread. It’s a thread about how cynical media outfits are trying to drive the “Democrats in disarray” narrative, and how progressives should be wary about playing into the hands of such folks.
This is my fear. The Rising is intended to draw the attention and trust of cynical progressives, and then come fall 2020 they will encourage viewers to vote third party in the name of progressivism. If I was a Trumpy media mogul, it’s 100% what I would do.
This is totally speculation, to be clear.
