More than half the country is in favor of impeachment and removal from office. It's a virtual miracle for more than half this country to agree on anything anymore. The movement against Trump is large and incredibly bipartisan, and that's a reason for hope

Our media profits from left vs right, blue vs red horserace spectacle, but they’re missing the larger story. Trump is historically unpopular, impeachment numbers are overwhelming, and it is not predetermined that tomorrow will look like today.
This old means of viewing politics, seeing as a dichotomous battleground for independents is outdated and actually immobilized action and participation. The movement against Trump is vast, bipartisan, and can change literally everything when that fact is realized.

It’s horrific, but Americans need to understand that a madman with no political skills or talents to speak of, a man incapable of plans and ignorant of history, is serving as President of the United States.

Lunging toward war, it’s a terrifying but necessary concept to grasp.
Donald Trump is not a secret, strategic genius. He’s a failure who’s continued to fail upward because of inherent privileged white supremacy. He’s as incapable of running the country as he is rolling out Trump Vodka. There’s a madman at the week. Recognizing that is necessary.
People invested in presenting American institutions as solid and trustworthy, who depend on the illusion of continued competency, search for proof of Trump’s ability to handle all of this, but it’s all fake. We’re hurtling toward disaster and he’s not equal to any of this.

It’s something that people condemning the razing of cultures by ISIS are suddenly champing at the bit to obliterate Iran’s.

War is war.
War crimes are war crimes.
The myth of American exceptionalism, that we are the arbiters of right and wrong and God’s chosen nation, and by extension that we cannot be fascist, is unbelievably dangerous. Our history shows a penchant for cruelty and is littered with war crimes.
Now, on the razor’s edge of war, we have to remember that conflict enables fascism. It hides senseless violence. We are capable of great wrongs and we have to recognize that lest we continue committing great wrongs.

I’ve been talking about this awhile, but I’ve taken to calling white identity Christianity, particularly the strain that’s given itself in full to Trumpism, as the Cult of the Shining City. They live in a fictional reality where they’re fighting a supernatural war.
The origins of this group’s madness comes from the linking of white nationalism and Christianity, a merging of myth that originated in the concept that America is God’s chosen country and American’s God’s chosen people.

First, let's state the obvious:

Donald Trump's entire presidency is an impeachable offense, an affront to basic human values, an insult to common sense and common decency, a threat to the rule of law.

He has violated the emoluments clause of the Constitution by using the office to enrich himself and his family.

He coddles dictators while alienating allies.

Trump has repeatedly undermined the First Amendment (which he's sworn to defend) by inciting violence against the free press and calling them "enemies of the people."

A note on #impeachment -

In a court of law, under non-presidential circumstances, impeachment is a tool litigation attorneys use to discredit the opposing side's witnesses at trial. When said witness takes the stand under oath attys. present evidence contrary to what the witness
claims. This weakens the other side's case by discrediting impeached witnesses's testimony. Once a witness has been impeached - by presentment of inconsistent testimony - the judge/jury can no longer use the impeached witnesses's testimony in reaching a verdict.
Simply put, they aren't trustworthy. In the case of Presidential impeachment that broad definition of impeachment applies, but the impeachment tool is used for a very different purpose. Under the Constitution, a sitting President cannot be tried in a court of law for anything.

We forget how much heat was on Trump in the first quarter of 2017: appointees were being investigated and resigning and mainstream liberals viewed him as utterly illigitmate. At the time, I thought an #impeachment hearing was likely, and that many Republicans would join in.
Things cooled off considerably for, as I see it, two fundamental reasons: The Syria strikes and Trump and the GOP’s mutual embrace.
The Syria strikes assured the Deep State (an often misused term, but a legit one) that Trump would pursue “business as usual” in American foreign policy; this was confirmed by an increase of troops in Afghanistan and more.

1. I am so sick of hearing that the ONLY reason Trump should be impeached is if he conspired with a foreign power to steal the election. Let's remove that entire smokescreen and look at impeachment as a tool and why Trump needs to be impeached EVEN WITHOUT conspiracy allegations.
