PART 2 of Thread 5 [#JangDongYoon and #KimSoHyun before/during TTON]. In JDY’s heart, he is already convinced that Sso feels the same way and is not oblivious to his feelings. The catch? Sso is never the type to overemphasize what she truly feels about her fellow actors.
When she openly gives compliments to or comments about her co-stars, she does this on needs basis and in good taste (What I mean here is she understands what her audience wants to hear. And she takes advantage of this. As a result, she can give either a fanservice reply
or a more wholesome response. E.g. In JEJ radio interview, Sso replied “saranghae” to a sender which shocked JDY. He probably didn’t expect KSH to say those words so casually. In another interview, she was asked whether she and JDY are close in real life. She answered that the
whole TTON casts are close). She can also be witty with what she says with her words always well-intentioned (What I mean here is Sso knows how to steer seemingly unconventional responses to a more positive light. E.g. choosing the 2nd leads when asked which one of her male leads
is better. Her intention here is for viewers to focus also on the 2nd lead and come up w/ a more complete assessment why the main couple ended up together. For those who don’t know, 2nd leads are there to help justify the main couple’s relationship). Hence, we see here a Sso who
is not only considerate, but also a Sso who sees the bigger picture: that the main characters’ significance is the sum of all interactions with all the other characters. (This is why you also hear Sso in interviews talking about the Muwol Corps, Aengdu, and Virtuous Women Corps,
etc in interviews.) And this speaks a ton to her actor/work-driven personality. But more than all of these, it is really about Sso not wanting to discount the relationships she had built with her other co-stars. Sso has always strived to maintain a professional relationship with
with her co-stars and JDY is no exception. At the same time to Sso, on a personal level, the friendly and comfortable relationship she had built with her co-stars are separate and unique in their own way so there is no need to make a distinction (From Sso’s prev male leads,
I’m sure that Yoo Seung Ho and Song Kang actually managed to form a friendly and comfortable relationship w/ Sso. You can check their interviews). Yep, poor JDY. To understand this better, I’ll give you an analogy: Imagine a family of five; so that is 3 children and 2 parents.
A child can be asked, “Who do you like more or who is your favorite bet mom and dad?” And a parent can be asked, “Who is your favorite among your three children?” I believe that a child can answer with more directness and be more open about who he likes better
while a parent will be more cautious and say that the children are loved equally though that parent clearly might have a favorite. What I’m trying to get here is JDY is that child while Sso is the parent. JDY has that quality of directness and openness that can make him say with
full confidence what he likes and favors; it doesn’t mean JDY’s previous co-stars are no better, it’s just that he’s open and candid about telling everyone what he feels/thinks about Sso—which is just Sso truly is his best partner. KSH, on other hand, is more thoughtful and
and sincere in treating everyone fairly esp where work professionalism is involved though she also knows that there is a select few she cherishes more. In other words, JDY is lavish and open in terms of his affection to those he really favors while
Sso is more considerate and will show affection as she see fits. And this is where I’ll focus now: How did JDY’s personal idea and awareness of KSH (obviously makes JDY adore Sso) changed as TTON progressed? And,
And, how does KSH’s strict affection (in so far as Sso is comfortable w/ JDY) to JDY changed as well? The answers will determine the course of their relationship.
