i dont know why liberals seem to think "i blocked them" or "i dont watch them" is an adequate response. just because you dont hear from nazis or watch fox news doesn't stop them from gaining and using power. they have to be countered.
when conservatives believe the msm is aligned against them (a false idea but whatever) they don't simply say "we ignore them." they say "and now we overwhelm them with our own voices." we need to do that.
i dont really know how to bring about this psychological change. from my pov liberals seem largely content to sit back and hope someone else solves it all.
we're in an information war. the right and the msm shoot out bad intel into the public sphere constantly. we can say we dont read/watch it all we like, but its out there. how do you counter it? we have to circulate our own information.
the mainstream media has abandoned its post as a fact checker and overall judge on what is out of bounds. they're never going to correct. so the left must raise up left voices to counter the right and the msm. its the only way forward.
we can sit and wait for the msm to fix itself but we've gone from wmd in 2003 to hillary's email in 2016 to trump voters like trump in 2019 and i see no improvement on the horizon
so that means outlets like @AmerIndependent (where i work) @salon @motherjones @thenation and more that need to be amplified. its either that or waiting for a savior that isn't coming.
it also means amplifying stories in the msm that help to make the progressive case - it shows the msm there's traffic in that approach the same way they know writing right-wing drudge bait leads to traffic

im a big advocate of shit we can do now, like right now, not pie in the sky stuff that won't ever happen like "bringing back the fairness doctrine" or "getting a liberal billionaire to launch a liberal fox." stuff that can be done *today*.
