FGC Beyond 2020
#FGC
This is a short data set that needs to be mentioned.

The Fighting Game Developers have no choice and they are beginning to realize this, that they must split development of their franchises into four entities.

A Sports Focused One.
A Customer Based Game.
Arcade
"Other"/Online
Sports focused is as it says it is… The game is barebones. No Online, No Other Costumes. This is for e-sports.
The Customer based game will not have the same type of gameplay issues that plagued passed generations, and that means for some, it will have the most simplest of move sets, that at most is two button press (not even motions).
Many in the FGC would complain bitterly, but one has to see through 15 years of gaming that only two buttons and a joystick (a mouse and keyboard in other platforms) have all that been ever used in the games that have made billions of dollars and changed the way we saw gaming.
None of the developers are willing to change the way they produce the tutorials because the way they built the built the game makes sure that the game itself is arcane…
This isnt a issue for those in e-sports - this is an issue of viability, play times, and visibility. The first game that creates these concepts in a successful manner will become the way fighting games will be seen going forward.
Arcade should be a place where the gamers test their skill - and this aspect of the game should be radically different than the other two - It must become its own space.
"Other" is deeply intriguing. It gives way to a RPG type setting, VN, Dojin, TV franchise and so on.
There is also a concept of a online fighting game, that doesn’t use the same type of data set that are used in the customer, or sports focused version of these games, could fix a lot of the problems we have with the Fighting IP's overall presentation.
Splitting the fighting game franchise into these working tool kits as it were will give and breath new life to the FGC.
The casuals will have their own version, the e-sports folks will have their own, the online multiplayer will have theirs and arcade will have it's own. 1 game - four different ways to play it.
One way to make gameindustri again…

Pretty.
