I have over 100 new followers today. Some from US. Welcome aboard.

Be advised, I do refer to US politics, but my focus is Canada. Canadian politics are greatly influenced by the US, so you must follow both to get a decent picture of what’s happening in Canada.
I make reference to thought leaders in the US frequently. They are much smarter than me and actually get paid for their work. I just have a lot of free time and a dislike of housework and home making. Ha ha!

Consider this my version of needlepoint. I like connecting dots.

Mr, Connors is upset that someone called out his poorly thought out plan to introduce moderation to CPC & their extremist agenda.

I am sorry if you were offended, but I am not sorry for being blunt and forthright. This is an insane idea & deserves to be labeled as such.
I literally just wrote a mega thread yesterday to detail why interacting with conservatives as if politics were normal at the moment, is currently inadvisable. But I didn’t state this explicitly.

I am now.
Conservatives have obliterated democratic norms and rely heavily on obstructionism, the use of disinformation and promotion of conformity. (To which those who have a predilection for authority, respond.)

That is current con authoritarian politics in a nutshell.

This is a side bar conversation to the megathread I put out today.

It contains quite important information.

We are on a precipice. We can pretend all things are normal or we can stop deluding ourselves and recognize we are at war.
I don’t like binary options. But that’s what this is.

We have a neofascist government in two of ten provinces. Loyal conservative premiers in 5 more provinces. And a federal Conservative party who’s only ambition is to defeat LPC next election.
We can try to rationalize with neofascists. But I prefer that we get to work removing them from power right away.

History demonstrates there is no negotiating with demagogues and despots. Look at the US for recent evidence.

I have conflicted feelings about the #Canadian #DDAY commemorations that took place over the last few days, and I struggle during #RemembranceDay because of increasing glorification of war, militarization, and platitudes about honour, duty, and sacrifice. /1
My family has a long history of military service in both World Wars. My great-uncle joined the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, fought at Gallipolli, and died at Beaumont-Hamel. My great-grandfather also enlisted in the RNR and survived the Great War except for a missing finger. /2
My paternal grandfather was a member of the Canadian militia in the interwar years, was a Major during WW2 and remained in Canada throughout the war at Shilo, MB and other bases where he was involved in training enlisted men headed overseas. /3

Andrew Scheer wants the same guns as Americans, why do you think he wants that? Ask yourself why, I’d bet it has something to do with the benefits of being the person who allows them access to our #Canadian money. We know the NRA “donates” to politicians. Does he want some too?
Andrew Scheer has not clearly said he wants a privatization of healthcare. He hasn’t said it out loud because he & Hammish know #Canadians would not vote for him if he did. He has hinted at it, “our failing healthcare” has come out of his deceiving mouth. Ask yourself why?!
