Offially confirmed by the US:

Iraqi casualties at US airbase following Iranian missile attack.
Pentagon: Two Iraq bases that house US troops targeted by missiles from Iran dlvr.it/RMcypL
Iran warns that the next retaliation, if the US responds, is to hit Dubai and Haifa

Iran threatens to hit Haifa in Israel and Dubai in the UAE.

Iran presumably wants Iraq and Lebanon to fight its war. Will Hizbollah attack Israel for Iran, and get Lebanon involved in a destructive war, at this very bad timing?
New — Pentagon says Iran launched more than a dozen ballistic missile attacks against US military & coalition forces in Iraq. Targeted at least two Iraqi bases hosting US & coalition personnel. Working on damage assessments. Had already been on alert & all measures were taken.
The effect of Iran’s “revenge” attack against what it labeled as “US bases” in Iraq:

Iran killed Iraqis, even though Baghdad has been up in arms against the US for violating its sovereignty.

Not even Iran’s supporters seem impressed.

Test of pro-Iran hypocrisy among pundits.
Add to this the idea Iran has probably just weakened Iraq’s hand in pushing for US withdrawal, made it hard for pundits to continue with the original lines of alarmism & US aggression, and lost the subtle appeal of unavenged wrong (if that makes sense)
Iran’s FM statement about the missile attacks — essentially saying we’re done, no escalation needed.

Unless casualties emerge, this looks rehearsed (not necessarily directly).

And unless Iraqis were killed, the fireworks seem over. Iraqi sovereignty is either way a political football.
Both statements are measured, and unlike their recent tweets.

A Third World War has been averted, everyone.

So even the US civilian contractor who was originally killed by Qassem Sulaimani (which led the US to strike militia bases in Anbar, which then led Suleimani to get his proxies to attack the US embassy, which led the US to kill him) was an Iraqi-American.

Yes Iran’s so-called retaliation was not smart, to say the least. It was theater for its gullible constituents, and the US seems willing to let it slide:

The Iran revenge was weak, and everyone in the region sees it. It’s embarrassing after all the alarmism:
