More very bad news tonight. Looking for more info.
Local reports indicating that a @fly_uia 737-800 crashed shortly after takeoff from Tehran IKA. #PS752

The @flightradar24 data for #PS752 ends with the airspeed staying constant but the altitude increasing before suddenly cutting out. Nothing stands out at a glance.
#PS752 operated by a pretty new Boeing 737-800 (not a MAX), delivered July 2016 directly to the airline.
The sudden loss of data with #PS752is very strange. The flight path, altitude and speed don't show anything different than prior flights
It's way, way too early to classify #PS752 a technical issue or really anything else right now. There are no facts to support this.
BBC Iran affairs correspondent tweeting out this video allegedly showing #PS752 in its final moment.

No, I do not have any opinions or thoughts on what happened to #PS752. There is not enough information to make any sort of conclusion or even guess as to cause, mechanical issue or otherwise, right now.
Lots of news coming out from every which way saying all sorts of things about #PS752. None of it is verifiable at the time. I'm done for now until reliable information is released, which may be a while.
Is it possible that #PS752 could have been caused by a mechanical issues? Yes. Do we know that? No.

A 737NG with the same engine type suffered an uncontained engine failure in 2018, sending shrapnel into the fuselage, wing and horizontal stabilizer en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southwest…
