I decided to do a thread on my week of learning, unlearning, pondering, processing reflecting and creating new thoughts on athletes, injury, managment and what “loading and loads” might really mean. This also applies to any patient not just athletes.
Last week I watched the Andy Murray documentary “Resurfacing”for the second and third time. I still missed important things.

Over the weekend I wrote defeated and rewrote a blog on my reflections.
Sunday through Monday reflected on my blog post and comments on twitter. I was also following the Chris Froome leaving training camp due to having a set back in his recovery fiasco, and pondered on the pressure we place on elite athletes to recover and perform.
I also tweeted about the pressure amongst top cyclists and how some have gone through bulimia trying to maintain low competition weight
On Monday I was contacted during a twitter conversation by @lukekeaney1 and I reviewed his story of being injured as a young elite athlete. Luke’s story set my week of reading, reflection and learning for the week.
I pondered and reflected more, then reviewed the work on internal and external loads for my #ReadAPaperADayChallenge
I continued to read, discuss and reflect. I posted this paper today looking at loading and stress fractures in elite cricket fast bowlers
I then had two days of processing and reflecting on my week of reading and twitter discussions. I was lucky to be able to share my thoughts in the real world by discussing them with two fellow professionals. On reflection I tweeted this
This morning I had a thought provoking exchange with @BobVermeeren
Hence my thought of doing a thread to show my week of learning, unlearning and reflection.
Where am I as I sit spinning and reflecting.

I’m back where I started but seeing it with new eyes.

Humans are complex. We try to look at the bits to see the whole.
Internal loads , external loads, they are all acting on the human , all at once, their interaction is complex.
I’m still pondering, but this tweet allowed me to see where I’m heading, thanks to @BobVermeeren
