NEW: After three years, power sharing is to resume in Northern Ireland. In the end both major parties concluded restoration of Stormont was better than facing the electorate again, after poor showings in GE19. Voters there, as in GB, will be spared another election.
It’s a major achievement for the govt, not least for @JulianSmithUK who by all accounts has been v important.

Nevertheless no one should mistKe this for business as usual. In the last few decades politics in NI (and the peace process) has rarely seemed more fragile or volatile.
As Brexit happens, a whole new political/economic order will have to be instituted, fraught with difficulties in both spheres. Brexit has posed anew old, difficult questions in NI which had been long ignored. It will continue to do so, with unpredictable consequences.
