Nancy Pelosi signs resolution to transfer the impeachment articles to the Senate“Today, we will make history,” @SpeakerPelosi said, speaking at the engrossment ceremony on Capitol Hill. 
“When the managers walk down the hall, we will cross a threshold in history. Delivering articles of impeachment against the president of the United States for abuse of power and obstruction of the House.”
And very soon, “as soon as tomorrow”, the Senators will take an oath to deliver impartial justice in the trial of Donald Trump, the Speaker said.
@SpeakerPelosi The House speaker signed the resolution using not just one pen, but trays full of them. They’re commemorative pens, emblazoned with her signature.
After painstakingly signing the document using each of the pens, Pelosi handed them to her impeachment managers and key committee members as souvenirs.
Though critics are questioning Pelosi’s choice to use souvenir pens, they’re not entirely unexpected. Souvenir pens were used during Bill Clinton’s impeachment trial as well.
Back then, Senators who signed an oath book kept their pens even though they were printed with a misspelling: “Untied States Senator”.

They have been escorted to the Senate floor and a proclamation was made by the seargant-at-arms.

@SpeakerPelosi responded to the independent government watchdog report released this morning which found the White House violated the law by withholding military aid to 🇺🇦, a central part of the impeachment inquiry.
“This reinforces, again, the need for documents and eyewitnesses in the Senate,” @SpeakerPelosi said.She also spoke about the House’s other matters, specifically the need for disaster aid in Puerto Rico.
@SpeakerPelosi then spoke about a poster in her grade school classroom which said: “What a tangle web we weave when we first practice to deceive,” and said with this White House, you see that happen “more and more.”
The White House has delayed distributing aid to the Puerto Rico allocated by Congress after Hurricane Maria in Sep 2017 and it is under increased pressure to make those funds available after a string of earthquakes hit the island in the past month.@SpeakerPelosi
