looking over this FAQ on the S-E site, it seems Touhou Spell Bubble won't have online or local wireless, just same-system play support.jp.square-enix.com/faqarticle.php…🇯🇵 idk if it'll support pro controllers but the word they use is the only typically used to described split joycon play

Taito's Touhou Spell Bubble event @ MEGARAGE should be starting any moment

well that looked great, and they're doing another MEGARAGE show next week to show it off again

here's the archive, iirc they don't always keep them up so watch it when you can

quick half-paying-attention breakdown: get 5-chains to go into rhythm mode for a measure or so, press the button in time with the beat to build up a meter, once the meter's at max you go into a fever mode where it switches to a pre-set field you have to clear in rhythm mode

every note you hit in rhythm mode gives you a point & whoever has the most points at the end of the song wins; bottoming out isn't a loss but it gives the other player tons of points, one for every bubble in the playfield I guess?

songs all have easy/normal/hard difficulty

there's also garbage & offset, item bubbles, spell cards which are like supers on a cooldown, etc

again, wasn't paying as much attention as I could've but they went through the tutorial & several matches on stream so it's all there in the archive

anyway, it looks fun, real fun

had to duck out so I didn't see much but afaik they mostly showed the menus, unlock system, ran through the spell cards, etc with some matches at the end
